2020-2021 Perseverance Plan » Learning Pods

Learning Pods

  • Each POD will have the same 12 students assigned to a learning aide in the classroom.

  • Each POD will be created with students' grade levels in mind. (If we have ten 2nd grade students and two 3rd grade students interested, a POD will be formed.)

  • Each student will need a laptop and headphones. The school will provide Chromebooks, and headphones will be available for purchase.

  • We will need to know ahead of time if students wish to purchase lunch from school

  • The learning aide assigned to each group will monitor students throughout their virtual learning day to ensure they are engaged. They will help with supervision and technical issues. The aide will not teach the 12 students assigned to his or her daycare pod.

  • If the assigned learning aide is unable to come to work that day, the school will have a substitute in their place for the period of time the aide is out.

  • Should there be a need to quarantine the pod, the students in that pod must quarantine at home for the number of days necessary until allowed to come back to campus

  • Students must wear their school uniform polo shirts

  • We have limited availability for PODS and will need to hire extra staff in order to offer this option, therefore parents wishing to have their children in a daycare learning POD will need to pay an additional $300/month.
  • Hours of operation are 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., Monday-Friday

  • Elementary students must arrive to campus by 8:45 am for proper drop off from parent vehicle by the gate next to the security booth. Staff will conduct daily health screening check, escort students to the classroom and get the necessary supplies and their devices ready to start their learning virtually at 9:00 am

  • Middle School students (Grades 6-7) must arrive on campus no later than 7:50 am for proper drop off from parent vehicle b the gate next to the security booth. Staff will conduct daily health screening check, escort students to the classroom and get the necessary supplies and their devices ready to start their learning virtually at 8:00 am

  • If you have students in both middle and elementary school, please drop off both students by 7:50. POD aides will be ready and available to watch elementary students until instruction begins.

  • Students' virtual learning day ends at 3:00 pm. After-hour daycare is not provided at this time. Parents will need to pick up students daily by 3:15 pm.

  • Pick-up for POD students will take place between the gym and the DHS building. Parents will drive into the campus using the Oakdale gate, and then exit through the Hatillo gate.
  • Daily temperature checks of students and staff will be conducted

  • Parents will need to complete a short daily health screening for their student(s).

  • Students and Staff will need to wear facial coverings while in the classroom.

  • Student desks in each POD will be appropriately spaced apart to ensure proper social distancing.

  • There will be no sharing of materials.

  • A nurse will be on campus should a child get injured or one who feels sick

  • We have two separate rooms to manage contamination. The Nurse's office will serve for injuries and non-communicable medical management and next door to her office will be the isolation room should a student feel sick.
  • Lunch prepared in the school cafeteria will be served in individually packed containers

  • Students can either bring a snack and lunch from home or may bring a snack and purchase lunch from school

  • For a flat monthly fee of $100 students will be provided school lunch for the entirety of the month

  • Students will eat lunch outside on the benches under the Sinanian Annex appropriately spaced apart

  • Snacks should be brought from home and will be eaten on the benches under the Sinanian Annex appropriately spaced apart

  • Please note that the school remains a "Nut Safe Zone"
