DHS Middle & High School

AGBU Manoogian-Demirdjian School will begin the 2020-2021 school year with the Distance Learning Model following Governor Newsom’s State mandate as our school resides in Los Angeles County.

March 16th to June 12th provided thirteen weeks for students and teachers to immerse themselves in the online/remote learning model. While we are disappointed that in-person instruction will not commence at the start of this school year, we are comforted by the fact that our faculty and students have responded very well. We feel confident continuing and building upon our recent success in the online/remote learning model. We are hopeful in-person instruction will resume shortly, and we are prepared to immediately go back on campus when allowed by the Governor and California’s Dept. of Public Health.

We recognize the particular challenges our teachers, parents, and students are faced with using this model of teaching and learning, and we want to assure you that we are here to help. We are guided by the goal of providing an excellent education to every student entrusted to our care.

  • DHS will continue utilizing Google’s platform for instruction.

  • Students will continue to follow their daily school schedule. Schedules will be available on Blackbaud for students to view on September 1st.

  • Each teacher will interactively teach standards-based instruction daily.

  • All classes will meet daily for 50 minutes (block scheduled classes will resume once we return to on-campus instruction).

  • Tuesday – Friday classes will begin at 8:00 am and will end at 3:00 pm.

  • On Mondays, classes will meet for 30 minutes, beginning at 8:00 am and ending at 12:15 pm.

  • In addition to daily office hours from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm, on Mondays from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, teachers will meet with students by appointment for one-on-one tutoring, small group instruction, as well as providing students with any necessary intervention strategies. Students are also encouraged to utilize this time to meet with school counselors.

  • On occasional Mondays, the school will host teacher training and professional development sessions. Those dates where faculty will be unavailable to students due to training will be provided to families in advance.
