On Friday, December 7, we gathered on campus to kick off the Christmas Season at our Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony!
Dressed in their Christmas best, elementary students delighted us with our favorite Christmas songs, the glee club gave a performance, the third-grade class put on a beautiful Nativity scene and finally, our adorable Kindergartners blew us all away with their dance to “All I Want for Christmas is You!”
Our students did such a magnificent job that Santa Claus decided to take a break from his busy schedule and pay a visit to the students of AGBU MDS! He even brought the Grinch with him as a special guest!
Following Santa's visit, it was time to light the tree. But before we did, our Principal Ms. Arpi Avanesian held a moment of silence to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Spitak earthquake. This year, we chose Mr. Ara Asatryan, our very own security guard and survivor of the earthquake to light the tree, reminding us that there can still be light after times of darkness.
Outside, the snow was falling as Christmas music played by our very own DHS students, carols were sung by our middle school Glee Club, pictures were taken with Santa and the Grinch, and hot chocolate, treats, and much more were enjoyed!!!
Oh, what fun it is to be a part of the AGBU MDS family!
Thank you to all of our students, parents, teachers, and administration for making this such a wonderful night! A special thank you to Ms. Arus Andreassian, Mrs. Houry Khechoumian and Mrs. Azniv Gaplanyan for all their hard work. We would especially like to thank Mrs. Marlina Kankababian and members of the Tree Lighting Committee, Michelle Akaragian, Nanar Arabian, Anna Baltyan, Maral Bamoukian, Ani Berberian, Carmen Celik, Arshalous Harutiunian, Veronica Kapukchyan, Maral Kevorkian, Sevana Ohanian, Mary Sahagian, Stephanie Schafer, Stella Zohrabian, for an unforgettable event!
