AP World History is college preparation course. Therefore it requires superior levels of preparation and thought—and a force of will, a real effort, to master. While the goal is that every enrolled student will receive an acceptable score of three or higher on the May exam for credit, additional goals include preparing students for eleventh grade AP US History and AP English Language and Composition; a substantive focus is also given to grammatical and logical tools required to excel on the PSAT and SAT college placement exams.
There are few subjects which are as rich, varied, and full as AP World History. While this means that the course has extensive active-reading requirements and requires significant amounts of time for practice and study it also means the successful AP World History student is poised to make tremendous academic gains across all subjects. It is, in a very real sense, a gateway beyond which personal and scholastic success become immediately visible.
