Alumni Spotlight

As part of an ongoing campaign by the AGBU MDS Alumni Association, we will be highlighting our alumni to the community.  Take a few moments to read the accomplishments of your fellow Titans!

Rest in Peace Dr. Vicken Gulvartian

It is with great sadness that the A.G.B.U. Manoogian-Demirdjian School Board, Administration and Staff announce the passing of long time Board Member and the creator of the Paradon Project in our school, Dr. Vicken Gulvartian.

Dr. Gulvartian had been a member of our School Board of Trustees for over 20 years (1994-2014) during which time he served as its Secretary. He was also a member of the Education Committee and Chairman of the Paradon Project. In his role with the Education Committee, Dr. Gulvartian’s input was very valuable in adopting new study guides, modern educational methods and latest developments. He was the Creator and the Chairman of the Paradon Project, which he started as an event to showcase student talents before turning it into a full-fledged festival and Paradon of Armenian culture, theater, dance, technology expo, games and fun. Over one hundred volunteer parents and staff worked with him under his leadership to produce an event that was the talk of the town. Dr. Gulvartian was instrumental in the establishment of a modern Visual Arts Department with its drama, dance, art and music sections. The school is indebted to Dr. Gulvartian for the many years of dedicated service.

His funeral service will take place on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at 1pm at the St. Peter Armenian Apostolic Church in Van Nuys; interment at the Hollywood Hills Forest Lawn followed by a memorial dinner at Phoenicia Restaurant in Glendale.
