Land of the Rising Sun -- Japan Model United Nations!

DHS students Andrew Demirdjian, Derrick Davidian, and Johnny Kamakian have ventured across the Pacific to participate in the 2017 Pacific Rim Model United Nations conference in Kawasaki, Japan. There they are presenting papers and debating policies pertaining to the Syrian refugee crisis and over fishing and other threats to marine ecosystems. With Principal Avanesian, they are learning as much as possible inside and outside the conference with site visits to Japan's religious, cultural, and historical sites. Yesterday they visited the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, a solemn space to honor the lives lost in the world's first and most devastating nuclear bomb attack. In August 1945, an American fighter jet dropped an atomic bomb which claimed the lives of hundreds of thousands of innocent Japanese citizens. Check out our Facebook page for more photos!
