AGBU MDS Delivers $12,500 Check to 2017 Armenia Fund Thanksgiving Telethon!

AGBU Manoogian-Demirdjian School students went on live television yesterday to present a check of $12,500 to the 2017 Armenia Fund International Thanksgiving Day Telethon. This year's campaign focused on supporting the Republic of Artsakh through investments in an agricultural development program that extracts underground water with a pump system that will help make land cultivation a more feasible path to economic stability. Thank you to the countless students, teachers, staff members, families, and community supporters who helped our school not only make a significant contribution to this valuable effort, but to also continue showing its support for the Republic of Artsakh and the Republic of Armenia.

AGBU MDS Students Compete in Staser Chess Tournament! // ՀԲԸՄ Մանուկեան-Տեմիրճեան վարժարանի աշակերտները մրցանակներով վերադարձան «Սթէյսըր Չէս» մրցաշարքէն

AGBU Manoogian-Demirdjian School students travelled to Irvine, CA to participate in the 42nd annual Staser Chess Tournament on November 18, 2017. The chess contingent of Titans competed and earned numerous victories in a field of some 300 students from throughout Southern California. AGBU MDS Model UN Returns to UCLA!

The AGBU Manoogian-Demirdjian School’s Model United Nations Club participated for the third time in the annual high school BruinMUN conference on November 11 and 12 at UCLA. Model United Nations gives students the opportunity to represent a country, research a topic area of global relevance, and participate in a committee session where they collaborate with other student delegations to devise a solution to the issue. Our school’s delegation this year participated in committees which discussed everything from women’s education and rights in developing countries to cybersecurity in electoral politics. We congratulate our delegation for receiving a research paper award, three verbal commendations, two honorable mentions, and an outstanding delegation award.

We give thanks this season to all the students, alumni, teachers, staff, families, board members, and the wider AGBU MDS community who devote their hearts and souls to creating a nurturing environment for our students to blossom. We give thanks to and will always pursue the spirit of gratitude, for in that spirit we can unlock the harmony and peace that has the power to unite and elevate the human family. As an Armenian community, we are torchbearers of an ancient tradition, and our insights into history give us the wisdom to look forward with appreciation for the precious gift of life and the profound opportunity to sculpt our realities with the spirit of this season. Chef Charles Draps

We are devastated to announce that the person who took our cafeteria service to a new level and gave our school what is today Café 08, Chef Charles Draps, has passed away this morning. Words cannot express the loss we feel as those fortunate enough to encounter his kind-hearted spirit of service, excellence, and joy. The culinary arts represented an expression of love for Chef Charles, and that love permeated from the kitchen he led to serve hundreds of students, staff, and community members who came through our campus every single day.
