UPCOMING EVENTS FOR 2010 FALL & WINTER SEASONS: DRAMA CONSERVATORY
AGBU-MDS Drama Conservatory is already in rehearsals for their exciting fall show, an evening of one-acts, entitled "Modern Tales." The fall 2010 production is a first for our Conservatory students because they are working on completely new and original material conceived and written specifically for them.
Drama Director Adrianne Alvarez-Jackson enlisted the help of three professional playwrights, Jennifer Maisel, screenwriter for Double Wedding the recently aired Lifetime movie, Chris Piehler, writer of The Triangle Factory Fire Project and Mark Savage, an accomplished playwright based here in Los Angeles. In June, each writer met and interviewed AGBU Conservatory students who brought to light issues of importance, reviewed Armenian value systems and culture, and discussed potential themes for the plays. The first group of students, Lorena Dilanian, Anabella Sulahian, Lar Gulvartian, Christine Mirzayan and Tina Isagholian began rehearsals for Mark Savage's hilarious comedy entitled: Tales of the Northern Tribes at the end of June. The second group, Katrina Karaboghsian, Derek Yegiazarian, Alec Bedrossian, Lorena Dilanian and Sabine Arslanian will begin work on Jennifer Maisel's haunting story of a little girl gone missing in Upon a Time next week. The third group of student actors, Rosie Marjanian, Diran Avedikian, Alex Yessayan and Alyssa Chahinian will begin production on Chris Piehler's zany farce late in July. Each one-act play is approximately one half-hour in length and the total run time for Modern Tales is two hours.
Production dates for "Modern Tales" are Friday, October 9 and Saturday, October 19th at 8:00 pm,and Sunday, October 11th at 2:00 pm in the Agajanian Auditorium. Tickets will go on sale soon. See you there!
